Blessings to Help with Difficulties

It is the blessings that one must remember throughout all the difficult times.  Those are what will hold you together when something comes your way that you are not really sure you will be able to handle.

One of the more recent blessings in my life has been the chance to go back to Cape May Point to Mary’s House with Jen.  It had been a while since we were able to hang out with each other…fooling around, playing games, praying, talking, and all that awesome stuff.  Jen and I got pretty close over the year with some of our similarities.  God granted us a chance to hang out and enjoy each others’ company.

Last night I got to walk around Centennial Lakes with Nicole.  We had been trying to talk and catch up for the past couple weeks or so, since she tried to get a hold of me.  It is amazing how the distance between us never changes how close we are and how much we trust each other.  She is someone I will never lose in my life.

Blessings, I could go through a whole list of them.  All my friends that helped me through those hard times and continue to help me now with my struggles.  They are the biggest blessings.  There are so many moments that God has given me to help me on my way.

So why am I afraid?  What is missing within me that makes my journey a little harder than some people who I know?  Will it make me all the stronger in then end?  Do the difficulties and struggles mean I am not worthy enough to do this great work for God that I am aiming for?  No.  It means there is something different and unique about me.  It means I need to remember even more those blessings in my life.  God has a plan in my life, and I will follow it to the best of my abilities.

Walking in Reflection with the Lord

For all my life, I have known that being outside is very good for my heart and soul, not to mention the body (as being outside usually means exercise).  Since I have arrived with the Salesians, that ability to get up and go outside kind of slipped.  During the long days when everything seemed overly busy and the tensions were high, I just kept on going…inside.  Recently I have rediscovered that taking those walks in the middle of the day, even when there is something else I should most likely be doing, is what keeps me focused on the here and now.  Doing that helps me to thimk clearly about where I am in life.

I have now gone on these walks a couple times.  Currently, I have just got back from one only moments ago.  There is a semi-rountine that I have developed (only semi- because it is good to have variation) for doing a walking rosary, or even just going on a walk.  I go out the front, through a little passage area, up a trail, up the road, all the way to the cemetary.  The turning back, I cut acroos the field with some trees, catching back up to the road and seeing a statue area, then back down the road and down the trail.  There are various stops that I like to make here and there.  When I am up at teh cemetary, I like to go in and glance over each Sister’s name, praying for them and also praying that they intercede for me what ever request I may have at that moment.  Today I walked that.

Following it, I recalled the prayer promise I made for today for TEC to do a Divine Mercy Chaplet at my three’o’clock or their three’o’clock.  It ended up being inbetween.  I did that one walking through the bushes to the island and around that, then around the provinicial circle, then back around the island, then in the leaves and trees outside our community room sitting until I finished.

There was something simply amazing about walking around the property praying, especially in the beautiful cool weather with wonderful colors.  I am able to reflect and be at peace.  In everything going on in community with the sisters and aspirants as well as within me, I need to remember to take the time to be outside and walk.  If I am short on time, make the walk a little shorter, but still take it.  It may be my saving grace!

Jesus is by Our Side

Isn’t it beautiful?  Jesus wants to be by our side through everything!  Why do we hold back from letting everything go to Jesus, to God, and let the Spirit move us?  It doesn’t matter what is in our lives, Jesus wants to be by our side through it all.  He died on the cross for us so that we could come to the Father and be guided by the Spirit.

Each day now I pray that I may notice Jesus walking by my side and give it all to Him.  What better way is there to live life?  As I am waiting, sadly slightly impatiently, for the response to my application I try to walk by Jesus’ side as He walks by mine.  It is amazing what can happen in your life and what you can handle if you just allow yourself to be surround by the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.  Why don’t you give it a try?  I did and I am hooked!
