Fortune Cookie

30 Dec

“If you don’t program yourself, life will program you.”

What exactly does this mean?  I know that I got it from a fortune cookie and so it does not mean anything to me in terms of how my life is.  It just gives a person something to think about, that is for sure.  I think I might ponder on this one a little and how it could maybe relate to me, if it even does.  Any thoughts you have?

It’s not really a fortune but it is a good point. I think it is about us deciding our ‘programming’ – that is what we do, how we think, what our moral compass is etc – rather than life (or society) deciding for us.

From a Christian point of view it’s actually bang alongside the idea of configuring ourselves to Christ – programming ourselves – rather than bending to the norms of society. It makes me think of most of Paul’s writings especially Romans 12:2 and 13:12-14.

That’s my take – no promises if I’m right or not. I suspect there will be someone out there with a better meaning but that is what I drew from it.

    Happy New Year.

Thank you for your thoughts! I like them, give me more to think about. I love hearing what others are thinking.

I take from it that if you don’t take advantage of certain opportunities, other less-inspiring ones will creep in there and prevent you from your passions.
