Lay Down My Pride

I have been thinking a lot about what I would have to give up in entering formation.  Watching this video was a great reminder to think of what awesome things I get to add in my life by entering formation.  The great part is that I was not even looking for a video with a Salesian in it, this just happened along in video hopping!  God is good like that.

A walk in the woods

Breeze blowing around you

Sounds that make music

Wonder and awe miraculous

The softness of a baby

A curious mind to a new place

The comfort  from rocking baby

A unique connection made

Art that hangs on the wall

Sculptures that bring to life

Masterpieces drawing out tears

Pieces of work with a story

The way God made the world

Saving Grace in the Son

Holy Spirit guiding our ways

One of a kind plan for all

You always you created  you

The one who hears this message

You the one God created to live

Meant to do so much you are

Sharing Faith Until the Whole World Hears

Here is one of the latest songs from Casting Crowns.  If you go to the official website for the band you can find the info I am about to provide.  Here is what is said about the song and its info.  It is word for word from the band, as well as the lyrics, so please do not consider it from me.

The title track comes from my mentor in student ministry, Roger Glidewell. He always closed his e-mails with the phrase “until the whole world hears.” Our goal is to live our lives telling others about Jesus – until the whole world hears. John the Baptist was the voice crying out in the wilderness, eating grasshoppers, and speaking into the world about their sin. Speaking out in the wilderness is never popular, but in the body of Christ. we’ve got to do it in love. – Mark Hall

[“Until the Whole World Hears” also includes the voices of the congregation from Eagle’s Landing First Baptist Church, where Hall has served as Student Pastor for eight years.]

Matthew 5:16 / Matthew 28:19-20 / Mark 16:15 / John 9:5 / Hebrews 13:20-22 / James 2:19 / John 1:1-42 / Matthew 24:14

Lord, I want to feel with Your heart
See the world through Your eyes
I want to be Your hands and feet
I want to live a life that leads

Ready yourselves, ready yourselves
Let us shine the light of Jesus in the darkest night
Ready yourselves, ready yourselves
May the powers of darkness tremble as our praises rise

Until the whole world hears, Lord, we are calling out
Lifting up Your name for all to hear the sound
Like voices in the wilderness we’re crying out
And as the day draws near, we’ll sing until the whole world hears

Lord, let Your sleeping giant rise
Catch the demons by surprise
Holy nations sanctify
Let this be our battle cry

Ready yourselves, ready yourselves
Let us shine the light of Jesus in the darkest night
Ready yourselves, ready yourselves
May the powers of darkness tremble as our praises rise

Woah, woah, sing until the whole world hears
Woah, woah, sing until the whole world hears

I want to be Your hands and feet
I want to live a life that leads
To see You set the captive free
Until the whole world hears
And I pray the day will see
More of You and less of me
Lord, I want my life to be
The song You sing

Woah, woah, we’ll sing until the whole world hears
Woah, woah, we’ll sing until the whole world hears

Until the whole world hears.  This is what we should be striving for in life.  Spreading the faith until the whole world hears.  What a task to be lived each and everyday!  Wait, what?  You think you can not do it because you don’t do church work type things?  You are wrong.  We were commissioned to spread the news of Jesus Christ to the whole world and not stop until everyone hears.  Below is a passage from the Gospel of Matthew stating this Great Commission.

The eleven disciples proceeded to Galilee, to the mountain which Jesus had designated.  When they saw Him, they worshiped Him; but some were doubtful.  And Jesus came up and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth.  Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.  – Matthew 28:16-20

In everything we do, everything we say, everything we think, in absolutely everything; we must spread our faith in ways that are suiting to what God is calling us to do.  God has a plan for each of us and within that is the call to share the faith until the whole world hears.  How many other forms can I put this in to make it clear!?

For me it may seem a little more cut and dry, but that does not mean it is an easy thing by any means.  God’s plan has now put me waiting to enter formation this August 24th.  I will be studying, praying, and all else in order that I might become a Daughter of Mary Help of Christians in approximately four years.  The Salesian Sisters just had this thing that drew me in.  Now, I have always prayed and hoped that I could be God’s hands and feet, seeing the world form His point of view in order that I may reach out where I am meant to reach.  The thing is, this is not how I thought I would be spreading faith until the whole world hears.  With that said, I am so excited.  What a better way to live my life but married to Christ doing His work that I have been commissioned to do!

I pledge that I am going to sing until the whole world hears.  In my love of music, my love of dance, my love of my faith and the fire within me I am going to give it all I have and pray that it is enough to satisfy God!  Will you go out and face the world with your faith like I am?  As a community we have the power to do many thing and catch those demons by surprise.

Watch out because I’ll share my faith until the whole world hears!

God is great all the time, all the time God is great!

Friday I found out that I am officially accepted to enter formation with the Salesian Sisters of Saint John Bosco!  Let me tell you, I am so excited about this!  I don’t even know really what to say next.  Anything could burst out from me or maybe just a smile will shine on my face!

Weekend before Thanksgiving at NCYC 2009 I met two aspirants in the bathroom.  Second half of Thanksgiving weekend I spent time with the Salesian Sisters in North Haledon.  That week after my heart and soul were racing and I was so excited about my visit and how I was feeling.  I talked for two hours of a two and a half hour conversation with my friend.  I e-mailed Sister Colleen about how I was freaking out and talking like a crazy person.  She ended up visiting that Thursday, with an application, in the little amount of time that I had to visit that day (as we were prepping for a retreat).  Crazy.  After a couple more visits and many many many conversations I got the application filled out and turned in the weekend of Palm Sunday, that Monday, when Sister Colleen came down to visit my family (who were visiting me) and me.  Then this Friday I found out I can enter near the end of August.  It is surely one of the most awesome things in my life!

How long have I know who the Salesian Sisters are before I get accepted? 6 Months!

How long will I have known about the Salesians before I show up to enter? 8 Months!

Does God do things how He wants to do them?  That is for sure!

I don’t know what God is going to continue to do with me, but I am very excited about this journey I am about to embark on.  Religious life is a beautiful thing and it has always intrigued me.  Now I get a chance to be a part of that life as I make my way through formation.  Please pray for me in this journey as I continue to share it with all of you!

Deep Within The Heart

Do you know what is beating deep within my heart?

It sends strings of these chills through my entire being

The chills knock down the pain that tries to abide in me

And I am overcome with the Spirit guiding me in life

Where I am going to go, this I can not possibly know

This I do say of what is moving my life in ways amazing

My heart longs for dance and music that awakens all

Music that tells a story, moves the soul, that keeps me alive

It is the Spirit in me, guiding me in ways never imagined

My faith will remain strong, to give me to God as He wants

With that I survive through this life moving where called

My heart wants nothing more than to do God’s will for me

Do you know what is beating deep within your heart?

Cause I know the Spirit is in me moving me where God wills

Let the Spirit in you too and you will be amazed at life

Jesus is by Our Side

Isn’t it beautiful?  Jesus wants to be by our side through everything!  Why do we hold back from letting everything go to Jesus, to God, and let the Spirit move us?  It doesn’t matter what is in our lives, Jesus wants to be by our side through it all.  He died on the cross for us so that we could come to the Father and be guided by the Spirit.

Each day now I pray that I may notice Jesus walking by my side and give it all to Him.  What better way is there to live life?  As I am waiting, sadly slightly impatiently, for the response to my application I try to walk by Jesus’ side as He walks by mine.  It is amazing what can happen in your life and what you can handle if you just allow yourself to be surround by the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.  Why don’t you give it a try?  I did and I am hooked!
